Game: California Speed

RetroArch: RetroArch Xtreme 1.8.4

Core: Ludicrous Xtreme (2K21)

SD or HD: Best played in SD

4:3 Resolution: 320 x 240

Aspect Ratio: 4:3

Xtreme TurboBoost: 0

Xtreme OverClock: 0

Audio Latency (ms): 228

--------------------------------

This game is best played in "SD" mode as if you try to play it in "HD" mode you have to increase the "Xtreme TurboBoost" setting to at least X4 in order to get rid of the audio breakup & gfx slowdowns that occur throughout the game in HD mode...

The problem with "Xtreme TurboBoost" is that is really just a form of "frame-skipping" and this makes the games graphics very jerky and to be honest unpleasant to look at in a racing game...

In SD mode then you can avoid this frame-skipping and play the game smoothly albeit in a lower resolution but due to the style of the gfx in this one then it really doesn't benefit greatly from HD Mode and so it's best played in SD Mode...
NOTE: That whether in SD or HD Mode then the extra track "California" that you can unlock WILL have a fair bit of audio breakup & gfx slowdowns in it at certain points (all other tracks play fine for the most part, with only the odd bit of audio break up in some). Mostly when there are lots building on the screen but as you blow them up the audio breakup and gfx slowdowns become less (you can see & hear this from about 4 minutes 15 seconds into the video)...

Also note that for saves to work correctly in this one then you MUST set the following setting in "Quick Menu/ Options" to...

Player 1 Pak... Memory

Player 2 Pak... None

Player 3 Pak... None

Player 4 Pak... None
